What is motor ejection?

Motor ejection is the simplest form of ejection used for deployment of a recovery system. Essentially the same as the motor ejection used in all model rockets, the difference in High Power Rocketry, is that an ejection well is generally supplied in reloadable motor casing closures, into which a small amount of black powder is placed for the ejection. For single use High Power Rocketry solid rocket motors, the motor ejection charge is integrated into the motor as with a model rocket motor.

Note: Motor ejection is not possible with a hybrid rocket motor or a liquid rocket engine. Both of these propulsion systems need to use electronic systems to initiate recovery ejection systems.
