For this activity you will need:

• A copy of the Rocket Template for each child (3 per page).
• Scissors
• Sellotape
• Wooden dowels sharpened to a point at one end or thick pencils
• Bendy straws
• felt tips and other materials to decorate the rockets.

The basic steps are:

1. Cut out the 3 shapes from the template
   
2. Wind the body round the dowel or pencil and sellotape closed
3. Cut small slits into the top of the tube you have just made
4. Twist round the pointed end of the dowel or pencil to make a cone shape and secure with tape
5. Fold the fins along the dotted lines
6. Attach fins to the other end of tube with thin strips of tape
7. Insert straw and blow
