UKAYRoC 2008 Announced

UKAYRoCThe challenge for UKAYRoC 2008 was announced by Phil Charlesworth at the UKRA AGM on Saturday 14th July 2007. As in 2007 the challenge is aimed at teams of 3-5 students from years 7-13, with a supervising adult. The detailed rules will be posted on the UKAYRoC website, www.ukayroc.org.uk, in the next few days.
For those who can't wait to get started, the challenge for UKAYRoC 2008 is to build a rocket to meet the following mission:
UKRA 2007 and Council Elections
Submitted by UKRA on Wed, 18/07/2007 - 09:04.UKRA would like to extend its thanks to Dave Beeton and all those involved in organising the 2007 UKRA / BK Flamer event. Although the weather was not exactly on our side this year a good time was had by all the slightly soggy attendees!
Following the 2007 AGM held at UKRA 2007, UKRA are pleased to confirm that all candidates standing for election were duly elected.
As the majority of Council members were unable to attend due to prior commitments it has not yet been possible to allocate roles within the new Council. Accordingly Michael Williams will continue to serve as UKRA Chair in a
Winning UKAYRoC team attends TARC

Team with BuzzThe UKAYRoC winning team from Buttershaw Enterprise College in Bradford attended the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) finals near Washington DC. The UK winners were warmly received by the 100 TARC teams and had an enjoyable day watching the competition. During the afternoon they successfully demonstrated their rocket to the other teams, VIPs and spectators.
The team were introduced to Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin who congratulated them on their success.
During their stay in Washington the team visited the major tourist sites including the White House and the Lincoln Memorial.
UKRA 2007 Dates

UKRAUKRA would like to announce that we now have confirmation of the site we will be using for UKRA 2007.
This year we will be holding a joint launch with Black Knights at their Milson site.
The dates are already in our events calander under Flamer Weekend and are from the afternoon of Friday 13th July till Sunday 15th July. Our annual AGM will be held on Saturday evening after flying.

UKAYRoC 2007 WinnersAfter a wonderful day of launching at the UKAYRoC fly-offs held at the 2007 BROHP conference the winning teams were annnounced:
1st place: Buttershaw Enterprise College, Bradford
2nd place: Crofton School, Portsmouth
3rd place: Royal Liberty Secondary School, Essex
There were also prizes for the best static displays awarded to
John Legget School, Scunthorpe
Beckfoot School, Bradford
The winning team will now have a few weeks to organise themselves to attend the TARC (Team America Rocket Challenge) fly-offs near Washington DC in May. The team from Buttershaw will demo their rocket to the American teams at the event.
UKAYRoC Finalists Announced

UKAYRoCOn Friday 30th March the finalists of UKAYRoC were announced.
UKRA would like to congratulate all the teams who took part in the challenge and wish luck to the 8 teams who have go through to the fly-off which will be held on Friday 13th April at the BROHP conference.
The team who are through to the fly-offs are:

Costessey High School - Norwich
John Leggott Sixth Form College - Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire
Crofton School - Portsmouth, Hants
